Work Starts Soon on Traffic Circle on US 76 West

Work is expected to begin soon for converting an intersection on US 76 west of Laurens into a traffic circle. Plans have been discussed for the intersection of US 76 with Trinity Church Road and Dial Road.

The project will require relocation of underground utility lines. At the September meeting of the Laurens Commission of Public Works last evening, Administrative Service Director Blake Davis advised the commissioners that CPW Natural Gas Superintendent Mike Smith, Director of Operations Keith Woods and Kevin Smiley have met with SC DOT and were informed that the project would begin toward the end of September. CPW Contractor, Electricom, is scheduled to begin work October 1st on a project o move the ten-inch high-pressure natural gas main to make way for the construction project. The commissioners were advised there is a 40-day time frame for re-routing the gas main.
