Laurens Man Charged with Two Burglaries

Two burglaries last month, one in which the intruder became armed, were alleged with a Laurens County Sheriff’s Office arrest yesterday. 53-year-old Charles Edward Wood Jr. of Old Airport Road, Laurens was charged with both 1st and 2nd Degree Burglary along with two counts of Petit Larceny and with Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.

He is accused of entering a dwelling on Variety Court, Laurens at night on August 8th and of taking possession of a Stevens Model 320 Shotgun valued at $2,000 or less. Wood thus allegedly armed himself while in that residence. He is further accused of entering a dwelling on Highway 76 East August 14th. In that burglary, he is accused of breaking a window to gain entry and of taking away various items of jewelry valued at under $2,000.

Charles Edward Wood Jr. remained in Laurens County’s Johnson Detention Center earlier today, awaiting a bond hearing on his five warrants.
