Woman Charged with Neglect of Dogs & A Pot Belly Pig

A woman was charged with four counts of Ill Treatment of Animals yesterday following her arrest by the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office. 62-year-old Wanda Sue Hitt of Mordeci Mountain Road, Gray Court was served two warrants alleging Ill Treatment of Animals, Torture and two for Ill Treatment of Animals, Overworking.

She is accused of forcing several dogs to live in deplorable conditions inside her house for a prolonged period of time, not treating them for flea infestations and to live in rat and feces infestations while breathing in high levels of ammonia. She is also accused of forcing five dogs and a pot belly pig to live in deplorable conditions on her property for a prolonged period of time without clean drinking water and without proper housing. The animals were reportedly found in these conditions on September 16th.

Wanda Sue Hitt remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning, awaiting a bond hearing on her four warrants.
