The “Pistol” Was a Lighter

Greenville County Deputies reportedly responded to Southern Greenville County in the Princeton area around 7:30 yesterday morning after someone called 911 reporting a man was hooking up a camper to a U-Haul truck off Latimer Mill Road. WYFF4 reported that Greenville County Sheriff’s Lt. Ryan Flood said the caller identified the man. A short time later deputies arrived in the area and made contact with the suspect near Ridgeway Road and Augusta Road and observed him pull out an object, which appeared to be a firearm and pointing it at his head. Lt. Flood said the man then fled into the woods. He was found and taken into custody.

Lt. Flood told WYFF that what appeared to be a pistol the man held to his head was located and determined to be a lighter.

25-year-old Gregory Chandler Metz was first taken to hospital for treatment of injuries before being placed in the Greenville County Detention Center on a Grand Larceny charge.
