Safecracking, Breach of Trust

Charges Robert James III

A Safecracking in August and a Breach of Trust this week were both alleged in warrants served yesterday by the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office. Facing the two charges was 29-year-old Charles Robert James III of Milam Road, Clinton.

Citing an investigation of Deputy Sheriff Lee, one warrant alleges that Mr. James attempted to break into a safe in Western Laurens County last summer by using tools to pry off the keypad lock on a safe. That is alleged to have occurred August 1st at a location on Poplar Springs Road in the Ware Shoals area.

Another warrant cites an investigation of Deputy Sheriff Walker as indicating that on Wednesday of this week Mr. James received a 2002 Chevy Blazer in trust from a victim and then appropriated it to his own use, with intent to deprive the owner of the vehicle.

Charles Robert James III remained in the Johnson Detention Center earlier this morning awaiting arraignment on the two charges.
