  • Girls: Clinton 43 – Union 37… The Lady Red Devils started the night off by taking a 43-37 win but it did not look like a “sure thing” at the half… The two teams matched points in the first quarter (8) and at the half the Union led 21-20… Clinton opened the third quarter scoring 8 unanswered points and at its end led 34-29… In the fourth quarter the Yellow Jackets got to within 1 point (36-35) with 4:20 left to play but the Red Devils hit a couple of free throws and made a clutch shot or two down the stretch to take the win… The Red Devils had two players scoring in double-digits as De’Shanti Watts finished with 14 points and Tinique Austin had 13… Others scoring for the Red Devils were Dana Kinard with 8 points, Grayson Taylor 5 and Taneal Evans 3… Union had two players scoring in double digits as Carmen Glenn finished with 14 points and I’yore Willis had 11… The Red Devils improve their record to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in region play… Union falls to 3-6 and 1-5.

  • Varsity Girls: Greer 68 – Laurens 30… The Lady Yellow Jackets came into last night’s game with the Lady Raiders with a 12-1 record and the Raiders found out they were the “real deal” as Greer took a 68-30… Of course the Raiders have not played or practiced in about a month and that may have contributed to the outcome of the game… Greer jumped out to a 22-2 lead after 8 minutes of play and was never really challenged after that although the Raiders did outscore them 18-15 in the last quarter… Jenna Suddth led the Yellow Jackets with a game-high 18 points… Qua Fortson was the only Raider scoring in double digits as she finished with 11 points… Faith Jackson finished with 5 points, Amilion Evans also had 5, Angel Johnson 4, Raniya Jackson 3 and Navia Blanding 2.
  • Varsity Boys: Greer 49 – Laurens 45… In boys’ action, the Yellow Jackets completed the sweep of the Raiders but this was a very close game whose final score wound up 49-45 Greer… Greer led 29-28 at the half and outscored the Raiders 15-10 in the third quarter to make it 44-38 going into the final quarter… Laurens did outscore the Yellow Jackets 7-5 in the final 8 minutes of play but just could not get over the hump…Coach Chavis commented afterwards that the team played hard but fatigue did catch up with them in the second half… He also mentioned that the Yellow Jackets outrebounded the Raiders and were able to scramble better to get loose balls… The Yellow Jackets were led in scoring by J. Skinner who had 18 points and M. DeArmant  with 12… The Raiders were led in scoring by Isaiah Burnside with 10 points and was the only Raider scoring in double-digits… KD Mosley and J.Q Fair both finished with 8 each, Chase Jackson and Josh Cureton scored 6 points each, Waldrick Burnside 4 and Preston Mahon 3.
