Chase, After Truck Theft, Ends in Crash

Laurens County Deputies responded to Joanna’s Ellis Street Tuesday on a report of a vehicle being stolen. Deputies initiated blue lights and siren after observing the vehicle on Rutledge Street. The pickup continued moving at a high rate of speed, eventually turning onto Highway 76. In the process, the truck reportedly passed several vehicles and ran one off the road.

Clinton Police assisted by deploying stop strips. When the driver of the stolen pickup attempted to go around them, the vehicle spun out of control, hitting trees. The driver reportedly attempted to then flee on foot but was apprehended.

He is further accused of failing to stop when signaled to do so with siren and/or flashing lights on a law enforcement vehicle.
