Clinton HS

  • Baseball: Emerald 5 – Clinton 2… The Red Devil baseball team continued its participation in the Emerald City Preseason Baseball Tournament last night taking on the host Vikings… Brett Young started the game off with a solo homer for the Red Devils but after that runs were hard to come by for the Red Devils as they fell 5-2 to the Vikings… The Vikings scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning, single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings while holding the Red Devils to a single run in the sixth inning… The Vikings outhit the Red Devils 6-4 and no Red Devil had more than one hit… To see the box score of the game click here and to see the scorecard to see how the runs were scored click here… The Red Devils are now 1-2 on the young season… The Red Devils will be back in action in the tournament tomorrow at 3:30 when they take on South Aiken a team that beat them 5-2 last Friday.

 

  • Softball Preseason Tournament… The Red Devil softball team is hosting a preseason tournament again this year and that tournament it started Monday (3-3-25 and will end on Saturday (3-8-25)… In addition to the Red Devils the other teams that are taking part are Abbeville, Whitmire, Greenwood, Laurens and Blacksburg… To see the entire tournament schedule click here… The schedule for today and results from yesterday are as follows:
    • Clinton vs. Blacksburg at 4:30
    • Abbeville vs. Blacksburg at 6:30
    • Greenwood vs Clinton at 8:30
    • Saturday games start at 10:00 am tomorrow and the teams are to be determined after tonight’s games.
    • Results from yesterday: Whitmire defeated Blacksburg and Laurens.

 


Laurens

  • Baseball: TL Hanna 12 – Raiders 1 (5) … The Raider varsity baseball team opened its season yesterday afternoon down in Georgetown as they started their participation in The Classic Baseball Tournament… The first game of the season is one that Coach Patterson and the Raiders might want to flush from their memory ASAP as the TL Hanna Yellow Jackets defeated the Raiders in 5 innings… The box score pretty much tells the story as the Raiders got their 1 run on a solo homer by Avery Madden in the third inning and managed only 4 other singles in the game… The Yellow Jackets produced their 12 runs on 7 hits including 2 homers and took advantage of 4 Raider walks and 4 Raider errors… To see the box score of the game click here and to see the scorecard to see how the runs were scored click here… The Raiders are now scheduled to play Chapin this morning at 10:30 am and James Island tomorrow at 2:15 pm… Yesterday Chapin took a 10-5 win over James Island… To see more information about this tournament click here and you’ll have to scroll down a way to see the tournament schedule.

 

  • Softball: Whitmire 7 – Laurens 5… The Raiders softball team lost for the first time this season as thy fell to the Whitmire Wolverines 7-5 in the tournament at Clinton HS last night… The Raiders scored a single run in the top of the first inning, but the Wolverines scored 2 in the bottom of the inning and would never trail again… The Raider did tie the game 3-3 in the top of the fourth inning, but the Wolverines answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to retake the lead… The Wolverines led 7-3 going into the top of the seventh inning where the Raiders scored 2 runs but the comeback fell short… The Wolverines outhit the Raiders 11-10 and Summer Nations led the Raiders at the plate going 3 for 4 with an RBI… To see the box score of the game click here and to see the scorecard to see how the runs were scored click here… The Raiders are now 2-1 on the season… The Raiders will be back in action tomorrow in the tournament at a time and against an opponent to be determined after tonight’s’ games are concluded.

Laurens Academy

  • Baseball: Spartanburg Christian 11 – Crusaders 6… The Crusader baseball team hosted the Spartanburg Christian Warriors last night and I hate to have to report they fell to the Warriors 11-6… The Warriors only outhit the Crusaders 9-7 and both teams had errors that helped their opponent, but the Crusaders had more errors as they struggled making 8 of them… The Warriors did have 3 extra base hits while all the Crusader hits were singles… Caleb Hardy was the only Crusader with more than one hit as he went 2 for 3 and had an RBI… To see the box score of the game click here and to see the scorecard to see how the runs were scored click here.
  • Softball: Spartanburg Christian Academy 13 – Crusaders 0… The softball team also took on the Warriors yesterday and they fell to the Warriors 13-0… At this time I do not have any other details on the game but if I get them, I will pass them on to you.

 


Thornwell

  • Baseball: Trojans 10 – Saints 0… The Saints baseball team was in action yesterday as they travelled up to Greenville to take on the Carolina Academy Trojans a Class AAA school… I hate to have to report that the Saints were not able to ring the victory bell when they got home as the Trojans took a 10-0 win in 5 innings… They simply outhit the Saints 9-1and errors also hurt the Saints as well as 13 strikeouts recorded by the Trojan pitcher…   Zach Crowe had a double that was the Saints only hit… To see the box score of the game click here and to see the scorecard to see how the runs were scored click here.

PC Notes

  • Big South Basketball Tournament… The Big South Conference will start the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament on Wednesday, March 5th up in Johnson City, Tennessee… Both of the Blue Hose basketball teams will be participating with the Lady Blue Hose coming into their portion of the tournament as a #8 seed and taking on #9 seed UNC Ashville Wednesday, March 5th at 5:00 pm… They were eliminated by UNC Ashville…The men come into their portion of the tournament as a #5 seed and will play #4 seed Radford at 2:30 pm on Friday… For complete information about this tournament click here to go to the Big South website where they have a posting dedicated to answering all your questions about it… If you have a question you can’t find the answer to there, you probably don’t need to know it….     •  South Carolina now knows who it will play today at noon in the SEC Tournament today at noon… They will be taking on Vanderbilt which defeated Tennessee yesterday 84-76Click here more details on that game.
  • ACC Women’s Tournament… The ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament also starts tomorrow at the First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro… For information about this tournament including but not limited to the bracket, scores, tickets, venue information and more, click here
    • Louisville 70 – Clemson 68 in OT… The Lady Tigers had their season come to an end last night as Louisville defeated them 70-68 in overtime… Click on the score for more information on the game… Great game by the Tigers that saw their upset bid fall just short.

Baseball
