  • Thursday, 3-13-25… Baseball hosting Greenwood at 6:30 pm
  • Friday, 3-14-25… Varsity softball Laurens at Clinton at 7:00 pm

Clinton HS

  • Kuykendall Signs with Brevard… Yesterday afternoon at Clinton HS senior Lukas Kuykendall signed a letter to continue his football career and education play for the Brevard College Tornados… Lukas handled most all the kickoffs, place kicking and punting for the Red Devils the last couple of seasons… Coach Fountain was sure to point out the work he put out not only on the football field but also in the classroom to get to this point… He also noted he became aware of Lukas when he attended a Clinton MS game when he first came to Clinton and was amazed to see the Wildcats attempting PATs and Field goals… That is something rare in middle school football… He will be joining his teammate and long snapper Rion Gordon who signed with the Tornados last month… To see a short video interview done with him after the signing and a few photos at its end, click here… Congratulations and Good Luck to Lukas!
  • Baseball: Clinton 11 – Ninety Six 4… Last night the Red Devil varsity baseball team traveled down to Ninety Six to take on the Wildcats as part of a JV-Varsity doubleheader… Good news for Red Devil fans as they took an 11-4 win over the Wildcats outhitting them 17-9… The Red Devils led 4-1 going into the top of the 4th inning where they struck for 4 more runs to go up 8-1 and then both teams scored 3 runs in the 6th inning to make the final 11-4… The Red Devil bats pounded out 5 extra-base hits last night as Camden Finley and Luke Young both had 3 hits in the game and each had a homer and drove in 2 runs each… Owen Glenn also had 3 hits 2of which were doubles driving in 2 runs and Camden Finley also had a double in addition to his homer…Zack Lawson got the start and the win going 5 innings with Talon Campbell finishing the game… To see the box score of the game click here and to see the scorecard to see how the runs were scored click here.
  • JV Baseball: Ninety Six 6 – Clinton 5… The Red Devil JV baseball team lost for the first time this season as the Ninety six Wildcats defeated them 6-5 yesterday afternoon before the varsity game… To see the box score of the game click here and to see the scorecard to see how the runs were scored click here.
  • Softball: River Bluff 13 – Clinton 8… The Red Devil softball team was at home last night hosting the Class 5A River Bluff Gators… The Gators scored 6 runs in the 1st inning and led 13-1 going into the bottom of the 5thinning… There the “never say die” Red Devils scored 6 runs in a comeback attempt but fell short as the Gators went on to take a 13-8 win… They Gators only outhit the Red Devils 13-11but were aided by 5 untimely Red Devil walks issued by 3 Red Devil pitchers…Halleigh Luke went 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles and Alyssa Young went 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBIs… To see the box score of the game click here and to see the scorecard to see how the runs were scored click here.
  • Tennis: Clinton 4 – Chapin 2…The Red Devil boys tennis team opened up it season Tuesday traveling down to Chapin HS to take on the always powerful Eagles… Good news for Red Devil fans as the team took a 4-2 win over the Eagles… In singles action Nathan Meade, Edwin Orr, Matthew King and Jacob King all took wins… For much more information on this match and to see what is next for the team click here.
  • Golf: Clinton 162 – Laurens 185… The Red Devil and the Raider golf teams opened their season Tuesday at Lakeside CC taking on each other… When the final putt went into the cup, the Red Devils had taken a 162 – 185 win over the Raiders. Clinton was led by Luke McMurray the match medalist shooting a 39… Ashton Wilson led the Raiders with a 42… For more information as to how the other participants did for each team click here.

Laurens

  • Tennis: Raiders 6 – Fury 1… The Raider boys’ tennis team hosted the fountain Inn Fury to open their season Tuesday and its good news for Raider fans as the team took a 6-1 win over the Fury… Now I do not have any other details on this match.
  • Softball up Next: The Raiders are scheduled to host the Southside Tigers in a doubleheader of region action today starting at 5:30
  • Baseball up Next… The Raiders are scheduled to host Greenwood today at 6:30 pm and we do plan on brining you that game here on Real Radio WLBG.

Thornwell

  • Baseball: Saints 11 –Southside 1 (4)... The Thornwell Saints baseball team hosted the hosted the Class4A Southside Tigers yesterday and after 1 inning of play the Saints led 9-1 and then went on to take an 11-1 win over the Tigers in 4 innings… The Saints only outhit the Tigers 8-2 but were the recipient of 6 walks issued by the Tigers that came at opportune times especially in the first inning… All the Saint hits were singles except for a double by Cameron Bryant who had 2 hits total and drove in 3 runs… Jaden Wilson and Josef Holford each had 2 hits for the Saints and each drove in a run….   • Softball: Saints 22 – Emerald 3 (5)… The Saints softball team traveled down to Greenwood last night to take on the Class 4A emerald Vikings… When the Saints got back home, they were able to ring the bell as they took a 22-3 win over the Vikings… The Saints only outhit the Vikings 12-8 but the two Viking pitchers issued 15 walks, and the Vikings had a couple of errors all of which aided the Saints in their win… Now I do NOT have the usual stats available to me but there are some stats on the Saints MaxPreps account for this game… If you would like to see them, click here.

 College Conference Basketball Tournaments

  •  ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament… The ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament starts today (Tuesday, 3-11-25) up in Charlotte… For more information about the tournament including the bracket, schedule and scores after the games are finished, click here… The Clemson Tigers, who are a #4 seed, will be playing SMU tonight at 9:30 pm and it can be seen on ESPN2

 

  • SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament… The SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament will start tomorrow (Wednesday, 3-12-25) up in Nashville… If you click here it will carry you to the SEC website where they have a posting that has most anything you would want to know about the tournament including but not limited to bracket, schedule and scores… South Carolina drew a #16 seed and played #9 seeded Arkansas on Wednesday and fell by a score 72-68….   • Christopher Bell Wins for Third Time… In case you missed it Sunday; Christopher Bell is the hottest driver in the Cup series as he took yet another win (third in a row) at Phoenix… He battled his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin down the stretch in the last lap and just did beat him to the finish line for the second closest finish in the history of the track at Phoenix… For more on this race including the order of finish for the entire field, click here.
  • Driver Standings… After this race, the top 5 drivers in the Cup Series Standings are now William Byron, Christopher Bell, Tyler Reddick, Ryan Blaney and Chase Elliott… If you click here you will go the NASCAR posting that has the Cups Series standings from top to bottom… Once you get there you can click on tabs at the top of the page to see the driver standings in the Xfinity and Craftsman Truck Series.
