  • Red Devils Headed to Camden Tonight… The red Devil boys’ basketball team will have to board the bus this afternoon and make the down to Camden HS to take on the Bulldogs in round 2 of the Class-AAA playoffs…. Now I tried to find an accurate season record for the Bulldogs but the usual sources I check did not have their complete season record… My usual source (MaxPreps does not have scores for at least 5 of their scheduled games… I can tell you that they finished first in Region IV-AAA ahead of an old region foe of Clinton’s the Chester Cyclones… In the games that were reported they are averaging 60.6 points per game while giving up 49.3 points per game… They call their gym the Dog Pound and I am sure the Red Devils would love to have a large number of fans to go down and cheer them on… If you would like to go the address for the school is: 1022 Ehrenclou Dr, Camden, SC 29020… Put that into your smart phone or GPS device and you should get there… Depending on which of two main ways you do to get there it should take you 1.5 to 2 hours and that is if there is no problems with traffic… Tipoff is set for 7:00 pm.

LDHS

  • Raiders Host AAAAA Upper State Individual Wrestling Tournament… The min gym at LDHS will be a busy place starting about 5:00 pm as the Raiders are hosting the Class-AAAAA Upper State Individual Tournament… This tournament will have some of the finest high school wrestlers from across the upstate of SC as they try to punch their tickets to the State Finals next weekend… If you have never seen high school wrestling it bears little resemblance to the “Pro Wrassling” you see on TV and is a lot more fun to watch… Come on out starting just after 5 pm this afternoon and again tomorrow morning when the action kicks back off just after 9:00 am.

Devon Redd led the Tigers with a game-high 15 points while Waldrick Burnside finished with 12… Isaiah Craig had 6 points, Dorian Gibson 3, Zy Todd 2 and Tyler Byers 2… DJ Barksdale led Sanders with 12 points while Ty Johnson and Gemire Darden finished with 6 each…Jayden McGowan had 4, Ladarious Whitmire 6 and Isiah Pearson 1.

Joshua Moore had a game-high 28 points with Noah Moore finishing with 20… Thomas Lowry had 9 points, Wil Tindal 4, Dawson Foster and Jared Dian 3 each and rounding out the Crusader scoring you had Charlton McCall and Ryan Anderson with 2 each…. Laurens Academy

  • B: ACA 83 – LA 37… Yesterday I told you that on Tuesday night the Lady Crusaders took a one-sided win over the Lady Lions of Anderson Christian Academy at LA but that I did not have the score for the boys’ game but when I got it I would pass it on… Well I did get that score yesterday and I wish I had better news as the Lions took an 83-37 win over the Crusaders…. Obviously the Crusaders did not have one of their better nights offensively and defensively as they trailed 25-7 after the first 8 minutes of play and the Lions never let them get back in the game… Joshua Moore was the only Crusader in double-digits with 14 points… Noah Moore finished with 7 points, Wil Tindall 5, Dawson Foster 4, Thomas Lowry 3 and both Luke Kerber and Ryan Anderson finished with 2 points each… By the way the Crusader teams are back in action today as the Lady Crusaders host Cambridge Academy and boys host Palmetto Christian.

Middle School

Clinton MS Red Wildcats at Hickory Tavern

Those problems continued for the Wildcats in the third quarter as they were held scoreless while the Panthers scored 10 points to make the score 24-3 headed into the final quarter… To their credit the Wildcats did not give up scoring 13 points in final quarter but losing 33-16… Clinton was led by Jada Briley who had11 points all of them coming in the fourth quarter… Zaria Tucker had 3 points and Jada Pitts 2… For the Panthers Kimiya Foggie led all scorers with 18 points… Raniya Jackson finished with 11 points and Navia Blanding 4.
