- Raiders Lose Starting QB for the Season… According to a posting on GoLaurens.com Raider junior quarterback Nathan Rutter tore the same ACL in the game with Chapman last Friday night that he also injured prior to last season and caused him to have to sit out last season… The new injury will cause him to miss the remainder of this season… The same posting says that Coach Liner will elevate Ryan Campbell from starting JV quarterback to the varsity starter… it is also reported that as expected D.Q. Floyd will miss Friday’s game due to the concussion he suffered in the first half against Chapman that caused him to miss the second half of last Friday night’s game.
- Dendy Gets GoLaurens.com/GoClinton.com Player of the Week… In other news from Raider football, Troy Dendy was named player of the week by GoLaurens.com/GoClinton.com… The Raider running back had his best game of the season against Chapman last Friday night when he rushed for 106 yards in 12 carries and scored 3 TDs… He also had a 98 yard kickoff return for a score… Congratulations to Troy!
- Crusaders Cancel Game his Friday Night… Yesterday it was announced that the Laurens Academy Crusader football team will be unable to host Andrew Jackson this Friday night…. The Crusaders who compete in SCISA 8-man football have a team that is low in numbers and have suffered injuries over the last couple of weeks that have put their numbers even lower barley able to field a team… Coach Todd Kirk felt that it is best not to jeopardize the safety of the remaining player and the rest of the entire schedule by playing this week so the decision to not play and give those players time to heal was made… At this time they plan on resuming their schedule Friday Sept. 16th.
- Nationals 9 – Braves 7… The Atlanta Braves and the Washington nationals were tied 6-6 going into the bottom of the 8th inning last night up in DC but the nationals broke the tie in the 8th putting 3 runs on the board and then went on to take a 9-7 win over the Braves… The Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson picked up his first career homer in the big leagues and it was an inside-the-park homer… He rounded the bases in just 14.97 seconds… Takes me longer than that to go from the living room chair to the dining room table most days… For more information on this game, click here.
