From serious issues to occasional raucous discussions, weekday mornings from 8:40 ‘till 10:00 delivers a large audience that’s actually listening to hear what you have to say!
“The Gospel Express”
For nearly 20 years, Rev. Anthony Sims has presented soul-stirring gospel music on WLBG. The WLBG “Gospel Express” has been a fixture in the community for many years and is one of our most popular programs with call-ins and dedications throughout the program. The Gospel Express is heard weekdays from 12:30 to 3 :00 pm and Saturday mornings from 6:00 to 10:00 am. Following the Saturday morning Gospel Express, Rev. Sims hosts the very popular “Gospel Talk” program from 10:00 – 11:00 am.
“The Soul of the Upcountry”
WLBG is one of the few broadcast outlets left to continue to play southern soul music. Classic southern soul Monday through Thursday nights from 9:00 pm to Midnight
“Special Programming”
Contests and Live Broadcasts from Special Events occur throughout the year. We broadcast live, on scene, from major breaking news events, Coverage of the polls on election nights, local festivals, and broadcasts from businesses throughout our listening area.
Saturday Mornings from 10:00 to 11:00 am: Rev. Anthony Sims, Min. Richard Aiken, and Bro. Levardis Payne host “Gospel Talk”. There is lively discussion of new artists and new projects from gospel legends. Artist interviews, giveaways, and audience interaction are all part of this very popular program.
Sunday Afternoons from 4:00 to 7:00 pm: Ralph “Rollercoaster” McDowell hosts “The Soul & Blues Review” live from studio A in our broadcast facilities. The entire show is all request driven and the phone never stops ringing. On summer Sunday afternoons you can ride around with the windows down and hear Rollercoaster on radios everywhere.
FACILITIES
WLBG operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 860 Khz with 1,000 watts daytime and modified power overnights, serving Laurens County and surrounding areas since 1948. We also operate a 250 watt FM translator at 104.1. Our facilities were upgraded with high quality digital broadcast equipment in 2005 with continual upgrades and maintenance since. Unlike many stations, we have an on-staff engineer which ensures optimal audio integrity and signal strength of our signal.
