Liner Headed to Greenwood

Early this afternoon it was announced that Coach Chris Liner will be leaving Laurens District 55 High School and heading back to Greenwood High School to be the head football coach at his alma mater next season.

Coach Liner just finished his sixth season as leader of the Raiders and the Raider just completed their best year under his leadership. They went 9-2 winning Region I5A Championship with a 7-0 record. They lost to Byrnes in the second round of the playoffs. He was also named the Class 5A Coach of the Year for his team’s performance. In his six years at Laurens. In his six years at Laurens his teams had a combined record of 34-35 and were also the Region Champions in 2016.

Before coming to Laurens, Coach Liner spent six years at the helm of the Ninety Six Wildcats where his teams went 43-26. Prior to that, he worked as an assistant at Greenwood for 11 years under Shell Dula.

Greenwood’s gain is a great loss for the Raiders as not only is Greenwood getting a great coach but an even better man.
