Narcotic Possession with Enhanced Shoplifting

Unlawful possession of a Narcotic drug was alleged following an enhanced Shoplifting arrest by Laurens Police last Thursday. Friday, 32-year-old Joey Leon Griffin of Byrnes Street, Joanna was charged with unlawful Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic, in addition to Trespassing and Enhanced Shoplifting at Walmart.

Warrants allege that Joey Griffin entered onto property at 922 East Main Street Thursday from which he was on trespass notice. Griffin is accused of then committing Enhanced Shoplifting by taking items from Walmart with intent to permanently deprive the business of full retail value. The crime was noted as Enhanced, citing two previous property crime convictions. Laurens Police Officer Miller further stated that an investigation indicates Griffin was in possession of one pill believed to be Lortab, a Schedule II Narcotic.

With bonds on the three charges set totaling $10,465, Joey Leon Griffin remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning.
