 D-I College Softball World Series Finals

  • Oklahoma 6 – Florida State 2… Last night out in Oklahoma City in game 2 of the best of the best of 3 series to determine this year’s NCAA D-I Softball Champion, Oklahoma  took a 6-2 win over Florida State to force a game three tonight to determine this year’s D-I Softball Champion… The Seminoles scored their 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning… Oklahoma got one of the runs back in the top of the third inning to make it 2-1 FSU and then broke the game open plating 4 runs in the top of the 6th inning and adding and insurance run in the top of the 7th to make the final score 6-2… Be sure to click on the score at the start of this paragraph not only to see the box score but also video highlights of the game… Game 3 is this afternoon on ESPN starting at 3:00 pm with the winner claiming the championship.

Baseball

  • Phillies 2 – Braves 1Last night up in Philadelphia, the Braves had a 1-0 lead over the Phillies going into the bottom of the 9th inning… At that point in the game they had outhit the Phillies 8-4 behind the strong starting pitching of lefthander Tucker Davidson who worked six strong innings giving up only 4 hits while striking out 4 and walking 1… In the bottom of the 9th Brave reliever will Smith had walked one but gotten two outs when the Phillies centerfielder Luke Williams hit a 0-1 pitch over the fence in left field to give the Phillies a 2-1 walk-off win… The series is now tied 1-1 and the final game of the series will be this afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 pm.
  • Dash 6 – Drive 4… The news is no better for Grenville Drive fans as they fell to the Winston-Salem Dash 6-4 up in Winston-Salem last night… The Drive had only 3 hits on the night while the Dash had 10… With the score 6-2 Dash in the top of the 9th inning, Greenville loaded the bases with no outs but could not get a hit but did get 2 runs on a Dash error… The teams will continue the series tonight in Winston-Salem.

This & That:

  •  Raider Kiddie Cheer Camp… Starting Monday, July 12yh and running through Wednesday, July 14th the Raider cheerleaders will be hosting a Kiddie Cheer Camp from 9:00 – noon each day… The camp is open to youth ages 3-12 (must be potty trained) and the cost is $60 per participant with each additional sibling only $40… Participant will get a camp T-shirt and receive snacks each day… Participants will be taught cheers, dances, jumps and stunts… Registration will end June 9th and late registration will be accepted but those registering after that date are not guaranteed a shirt… To register click here… If you have any questions contact Erin Patterson whose email address is:  eopatterson@laurens55.org
  • 2021 Raider Baseball Summer Camp… The Raider Baseball Program will be hosting a 3-day camp. This camp is offered to boys and girls, ages 7-12 June 28th –June 30th…. While at camp, your son/daughter will learn basic baseball fundamentals; including base running, hitting, catching, throwing, and specific position fundamentals… Our goal for this camp is to serve youth baseball players in our county that want to become better players… We feel like it is our duty to give back to the community that has grown and shaped so many of our Raider Baseball players, past and present… We look forward to working with our youth and hope to see all of you on June 28th… Registrations will take place every afternoon beginning at 5:30… Snacks and water will be provided… Players should wear proper baseball attire every day; baseball pants, hat, and cleats… If a player does not have appropriate baseball attire, please have them dress in clothes that they can get dirty in and tennis shoes… The cost is $30 per camper and $45 for a camper and sibling (cash only)…  Click here to open a Google Form to register your youth in order for us to get a head count… If you have any questions please contact Coach Patterson (kjpatterson@laurens55.org) or his wife (eopatterson@laurens55.org)
