Man Arrested For DUI, DUS, Resisting Arrest, And Habitual Offender

A Traffic Stop Led a Gray Court Man Behind Bars over the weekend. 29-year-old James Matthew Goldsmith of Tanglewood Way was arrested Saturday and Charged with alleged Driving Under the Influence, Driving Under Suspension, Resisting Arrest , and Habitual Offender. According to reports Deputy Williamson responded to the area of Vern Cora Road and Flemming Mill Road in reference to a vehicle that had ran a stop sign and was in a person’s yard. Upon Arrival Deputy Williams made contact with the driver identified as  James Goldsmith. Goldsmith allegedly had slurred speech, glassy, droopy eyes, and the smell of an alcoholic beverage. Goldsmith was asked out the vehicle where the smell of alcoholic beverage continued and he stumbled to the rear of his vehicle. After being cleared by EMS, he was asked to perform a Field Sobriety Test to which he agreed. He did not perform the test to the Deputy’s satisfaction and was placed under arrest for DUI. While attempting to place Goldsmith into handcuffs, he began to actively resist a lawful arrest. When transported to the Detention Center he refused to give a breath sample. Goldsmith was found to have two prior DUI charges . He was also found to be marked a habitual offender. James Goldsmith was released from the Johnson Detention Center yesterday.
