Sports Report for Tuesday, 1-11-2022

Local Notes:

 Clinton HS:

  • COVID Causes Rescheduling… Some COVID problems inside the Broome boys basketball program has caused some rescheduling of the games that were supposed to take place tonight… The Red Devil varsity teams were originally scheduled to go to Broome tonight and the JV teams to play at home tonight… The girls’ varsity team will still travel to Broome tonight along with both JV teams… The JV girls will play at 5:00, followed by the JV boys at 6:15, and the varsity girls will play at 7:30…   The date for the varsity boys’ game will be announced later.

Laurens HS:

  • Varsity Basketball at Home Tonight… A quick reminder that the Raider varsity basketball teams will be hosting the Greenwood Eagles as the Raiders open region play… We do plan on brining you those games here on Real Radio WLBG and on the internet at www.wlbg.com… Baring no last minute COVID problems that have caused other rescheduling, we will start our coverage just about 6:00… The Raider sub-varsity boys’ basketball teams will travel to Greenwood tonight with the C-teams taking the court at 5:15 and the JV team at 6:30.

Laurens Academy:

  • Crusaders at Home Today…  The Laurens Academy Crusaders will be hosting the Patriots of Wardlaw Academy today… The action will start at 4:00 pm when the middle school girls’ teams take to the court. Followed by the middle school boys then the varsity teams.

Middle School Basketball… I only received one middle school basketball score from last night and it involves the Laurens MS which traveled over to Dixie to take on the Green Hornets… Only the boys’ teams played as the Tiger girls did not play due to unspecified health issues.

  • Tigers 41 – Hornets 39… The Tigers took a come from behind 41-39 win over the Hornets after trailing 27-37 with about 4 minutes left to play… The winning shot came with 2.2 seconds left when Hyikeem Burnside hit Aaden McDowell breaking to the basket who made the layup for the win…  To see a short video clip of that shot click here... It woll be a little “blinky”…  McDowell led the team with a game-high 18 points and Byrnside finished with 16… Others scoring for the Tigers were Denari Lee-Jackson with 3 points while both Zee Simpson and Dee Suber finished with 2 points each… Thanks to Coach Will Adams for the info and video!
