Chief Latimore Rewarded The Key To City At Farwell Event

A large crowd gathered at the Laurens County Museum on the Square in Laurens yesterday afternoon to honor Chrissie Cofield Latimore.  Chief Latimore has been nominated by the President of the United States to serve as the United States Marshal for the District of South Carolina.

She was thanked and praised by Laurens Mayor Nathan Senn who presented her with a key to the city.  Mayor Senn spoke about the importance of the rule of law.  He said that treating people with respect and protecting Constitutional rights while enforcing the law is a difficult job.  He said that Chrissie Cofield Latimore was able to do that difficult job well and to inspire others to do the same.

Former Laurens Chief and current Clinton Chief of Police, Sonny Ledda, Laurens Police Department Captains Dillon Sherfield, Heath Copeland and Scott Franklin also spoke, becoming emotional at times as they reminisced about what Chief Latifmore had meant to each of them during her 22 year career with the Laurens Police Department.

All on hand gave the Chief their best wishes and full confidence in her new job.
