  • Phillies 3 – Braves 1… The Atlanta Braves finished their short 2-game series with the Phillies yesterday afternoon down in Atlanta on a down note as the Phillies took a 3-1 win… The Braves led 1-0 going into the top of the 8th inning on the strength of Orlando Arcia’s (7) solo homer in the 5th inning… The Phillies put 3 run on the scoreboard in the top of the inning with two of them off the bat of the Phillie Nick Castellanos (9) homer… The Braves threatened in the bottom of the 8th inning as they had runners on first and second base with one out but just could not get the big hit… The Braves will now travel to New York to start a BIG 5-game series with the Mets that includes a doubleheader on Saturday… The Braves are in second place in the NL East 3.5 games behind the Mets so obviously the Braves would like to take the series.as it is the first of three series with the Mets left in the season.

This & That:

LDHS Century Club Taking Applications… Another sign that the high school football season is almost here is that the LDHS is taking new and renewal applications for the Century Club… Past members should have already received information on renewal information in the mail… For those of you who may be new to District 55 or have children who will be attending LDHS for the first time this tear and participating is various sports throughout the year, this is the best way to get tickets for not only home football games but also all other home sports… If you click here it will carry you to a posting on the Laurens District 55 athletic website where there is a posting about the Century Club that outlines the benefits, cost and other information you might want to know about it… Now one note about something I want to make clear, season tickets for football and other sports are for regular season games only… Not playoffs… SCHSL rules do not allow season tickets to cover playoff tickets at home or away… Fans will have to be paid for playoff tickets each game at a cost set by the SCHSL… For football your parking pass can be used for playoff games at home and you will be allowed to sit in your usual (reserved) seat put must pay for the playoff ticket… Now an important note, payment and forms must be mailed back to the Athletic Booster Club by Saturday, August 6th…  To go to the application form you can print and send in click here…. Seats in the Century Club are limited so don’t hesitate.
