Laurens County School District 55 Calls on Parents, Students, and Teachers to Complete Climate Surveys

On March 22, 2023, Laurens County School District 55 (LCSD 55) will release the Parent climate surveys provided by the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) and Education Oversight Committee. The surveys will remain open until April 14, 2023.

Beginning March 6, 2023, teachers and student surveys were released to schools. Data from teacher and student climate surveys are factored in the state and federal school accountability models, such as the Annual School and District Report Card System for South Carolina Public Schools and Districts. The SCDE expects a minimum of 80% participation from students and teachers. Survey participation at a lower rate negatively impacts the Annual School and District Report Card.

Teachers and students will complete the survey during a timeframe between March 6-March 24, 2023. Parents will have the option to complete the survey via Parent Portal or by scanning a unique QR code. Detailed survey information will be attached to student report cards on March 22, 2023. Schools have designated individuals who will provide assistance to those with questions about completing the climate survey.

LCSD 55 greatly values input from all stakeholders. Feedback helps the district continue to provide the most suitable learning environment and work towards continuous improvement,” said LCSD 55 Superintendent Dr. Ameca C. Thomas.

Parents, students, and teachers are highly encouraged to complete the climate survey. LCSD 55 is committed to providing parents the opportunity to complete the survey. Parents who do not have the appropriate device, internet connection, or mobile service, may complete the survey at their child’s school.
