Laurens Academy

  • Crusader Win SCISA Class A Volleyball Championship… For the second year in a row the Laurens Academy Crusader volleyball team faced off against region foe Cambridge Academy at Erskine College last night for the SCISA Class A Volleyball Championship… Also for the second year in a row the Crusaders defeated the Cougars to claim the SCISA Class A Volleyball Championship…  The Crusaders wasted little time in in getting ahead as they took the first set 25-20… Afterwards Coach Shannon McGee said she thought that was a very important factor to come out and get momentum against the very good Cougar team by winning the first set… The Crusaders scored the first 5 points in the second set and led 10-3 before going on to take a 25-17 win in the second set… Coach McGee also said you have to be careful against the Cougars because if you let up they will take advantage of it… That is just what the Cougars did in the third set as they won it by a score of 25-18… The Crusaders took an early 12-6 lead in the fourth set but the Cougars did not give up as they fought but the Crusaders were just too determined as they took a 25-21 win claimed the title with a 3-1 win over the Cougars… Coach McGee commented on the Crusaders never giving up and that showed as balls that should have been points for the Cougars were saved and turned into points for the Crusaders more often than not… The Crusaders finish the season with a 28-7-2 record (15-1 in region play) … Congratulations to the Crusaders!
