LCD55 Will Have Half Day April 8th

On Monday, April 8th, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. In the late afternoon on this day, the eclipse is projected to be visible in our community. The timing of this event will begin around 1:50 and peak around student dismissal at 3:09 PM. Due to the timing of the event, we want to ensure that there are no students traveling on a school bus or waiting outside for a ride during this peak time. After careful consideration, Laurens District 56 will move to a half day for all students on Monday, April 8th! We will not run our afterschool programs at all on this day and start time for athletics will be adjusted.
Dismissal times will be as follows on Monday, April 8th:
MS Bailey at 11:30 AM
Elementary students at 11:45 AM
Middle and high school students at 12:00 PM
