Clinton HS
- Athletic Awards Tonight … The Red Devils will host their 2023-24 athletic awards tonight beginning at 6:00, in the main gym… All sports will be recognized: Fall, Winter, and Spring… After some awards are handed out in the main gym, there will split out to other areas to hand out awards in the various sports… There is no cost to attend. #GO BIG RED

- James Island 10 – Raiders 7
- Last night in front of a very large crowd at Ed Prescott Field, the Raider baseball team saw their season come to an end last night when the James Island Trojans took a 10-7 win coming back late in the game to tie it and then scoring 3 runs in the 8th inning to win it… The Raiders led 7-5 going into the top of the 7th inning and retired the first two Trojan batters in the 7th inning… The Trojans then strung together 4 singles and a double to tie the game… The Raiders then went down in order in the bottom of the inning to send the game into extra innings… The Trojans Stow Rogers lead off for the Trojans in the top of the 8th inning with a solo homer… The next Trojan batter reached base on a walk and the third batter of the inning Taj Marchand homered to make it 10-7 Trojans… When the Raiders came to bat in the bottom of the inning, The Trojan pitcher struck out the first 2 batters and when the third batter grounded out to the third baseman, the celebration was on for James Island…
- The Raiders jumped out to an early 2-0 lead when Owen Pridgen homered (6) in the second inning driving in Ben Willis… The Raiders tacked on another run to make it 3-1 in the 3rd when Pridgen singled driving in Coleman Coker… James Island took a 4-2 lead scoring 3 runs in the 4th inning but the Raiders came back and tied the game in the bottom of the inning when Asher Goss doubled driving in a run… The Raiders scored their last 3 runs to go up 7-4 in the 5th inning when Bennett Edwards doubled driving in 2 runs and Coleman Coker doubled driving in another… The Trojans picked up another run in the 6th inning to make it 7-5 Raiders setting the stage for the dramatic win for Trojans.
- Bennett Edwards went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBIs while Owen Pridgen went 2 for 4 with a homer and 3 RBIs… Click here to see the box score of the game and click here to see the scorebook to see how the runs were scored…. Congratulations to the Raiders on a great season!

- Spring Football Game… The Laurens Raiders have been getting ready for the upcoming season as they have been having spring practice since May 1st under new head coach Greg Porter… Spring practice ends tonight night as the Raiders will have their Spring Game at KC Hanna Stadium starting at 6:00 pm… Come on out and get your first look at next season’s team.

College Baseball
- Conference Tournaments…Most of the D-I conferences that have schools in our area are starting their Conference Tournaments this week.
- Big South… The Big South Tournament will be held up in High Point, NC at Truist Park… The Blue Hose have the #1 seed for the first time in program history and will be one of 4 teams competing for the automatic bid to the College World Series… They will open play on Thursday, May 23 taking on #4 seeded Charleston Southern at 1:00 pm… For complete information about the tournament click here
- ACC… The ACC Tournament started May 21st up in Charlotte, NC… Clemson is among the teams competing for the automatic bid to the College World Series but they do not play until Thursday when they take on Miami at 11:00 am… For complete information about this tournament including scores as the games finish, click here.
- SEC… The SEC Tournament starts today out in Hoover, AL… Now for complete information about this Tournament including scores of games completed, click here…
- South Carolina 6 – Arkansas 5… The Gamecocks who were struggling coming into the SEC Tournament having been swept in their final 2 series of the regular season won another one in Hover yesterday as they took a 6-5 win over #2 seeded Arkansas… Cole Messina had 2 homers in the game for the Gamecocks… The Gamecocks advance in the winner’s bracket and will face #11 seeded LSU today at 5:30 pm… LSU defeated #3 seeded Kentucky 11-0 yesterday
- SoCon… The Southern Conference Tournament started Wednesday up at Flour Field in Greenville… For complete information about this tournament click here.
- Wofford 8 – The Citadel 3… The tournament opened yesterday with Wofford taking an 8-3 win over the Citadel… This game was a single elimination “play in” game for the tourbnament so the Citadel heads back to Charleston and Wofford take on Western Carolina today at 3:00 pm

Atlanta Braves… For more information on the game(s) below, click on the scores.
- Braves 9 – Cubs 2… After dropping the first game of a 3-game series with the Cubs in Chigcago4-3 in 10 innings, the Braves rebounded to take a 9-2 win over the Cubs last night… The Braves outhit the Cubs 9-3 and 3 pf the Braves hits were homers… Adam Duvall (3) had a 2 run homer in the 3rd inning, Marcell Ozuna (15) had a 2-run homer in the 7th inning and Matt Olson (7) had a solo shot in the 7th inning… Max Fried (4-2) picked up the complete game win giving up the 2 runs (only 1 earned) on 3 hits while striking out 9 and walking none.

- Drive 14 – Grasshoppers 12… The Greenville Drive defeated the Greensboro Grasshopper 14-12 last night up in Greensboro in 10 innings. … Oddly enough, the hits by each team matched the score (12-12)… Five of the Grasshopper hits were homers while the Drive countered with 3 homers… Cutter Coffey (3), Mikey Romero (1) and Allan Castro (2) were the Drive players who homered.

NASCAR
- Joey Logano Wins All-Star Race… Joey Logano led all but 1 lap of the 200 lap All-Star Race in North Wilkesboro Sunday but the main thing is he was leading at the checkered flag to get the win… No points awarded in this race but he did pick up the 1 million dollar top prize… Click here to go to the NASCAR website where there is much more about this including the final race results.
- Standings… Kyle Larson still leads the Driver Standings in the Cup Series while Martin Truex Jr. remains second… Denny Hamlin moved up to third while Chase Elliot dropped to fourth…To see the driver standings for the Cup Series click here… Once you get there you can also click on links to see the standings in Xfinity and Truck Series using tabs in the upper right corner of the posting.

Summer Camps at Clinton YMCA… The Clinton YMCA has released their schedule of Summer Youth Sports Camps for this year… To see a list of those camps including dates, location, times and cost click here… These cams do have registration deadlines and you register at the Clinton YMCA… The next camps are:
- Baseball at CHS… This camp will be June 3-5 and will be held at the CHS baseball field from 9:00 to 11:30 am each day… This camp is for boys ages 6-12 and will be conducted by Coach Peyton Spangler… The cost is $40 for YMCA members and $50 for non-members… The deadline to register is Friday, May 31 @ 4:00 pm.
- Soccer Cap at PC… This camp will be June 5-7 at the PC intramural Field from 9:00 am to 11:00 am… It is open to boys and girls ages 6-12 and will be conducted by Coach Tania Harris… The cost is $50 for YMCA members and $60 for non-members… The deadline to register is Monday, June 3 @ 4:00 pm
