 College Baseball

  • South Carolina Baseball Team Adds and Loses Through Transfer PortalSince Pail Mainieri took over the Gamecock baseball program a few weeks ago there has been a lot of movement into and out of the Gamecock baseball team through the transferee portal… The most recent count show 11 additions and 8 leaving… Most notably two Clemson baseball players have announced their intents to “change sides” in the rivalry… Nathan Hall and Nolan Nawrocki are the Tigers headed to South Carolina… I strongly suspect that Monty Lee’s staying at South Carolina as associate head coach has something to do with that…. Click here to go to an article in the State Newspaper which list those coming to and leaving the Gamecocks.

College Football

  • Clemson Refuses to Move Date of South Carolina Game…. Some of you may have missed the story about Clemson refusing to move the South Carolina game from Saturday, Nov. 30 to Friday, Nov. 29 in prime time… The ACC and ESPN requested that the Tigers do that and Clemson refused… The ACC and ESPM offered the Tigers several incentives to do that but they said no… Their refusal more than likely has something to do with the lawsuit filed by Clemson against the ACC over exclusive media rights that the ACC has over the Tigers (and all other ACC schools) athletics… Personally, I think that Dabo’s wife and the other coaches wives told them they better not do that and mess up their Black Friday shopping day…LOL… For more information on why Clemson (and Florida State) are suing the ACC, click here.

The Braves also had 3 errors in the game so that only 6 of the Phillies runs were earned.
  • Saturday: Braves 5 – Phillies 1… On Saturday the Phillies once again outhit the Braves 7-6 but that is not what counts as the Braves took a 5-1 win over the Phillies… The Braves scored 3 runs in the 1st inning mostly off the bat of Marcell Ozuna (22) as hit a 2-run homer to centerfield… The Braves scored their last 2 runs in the 5th inning when Ozzie Albies (9) hit a 2-run homer… Braves rookie pitcher Spencer Schwellenbach (2-4) picked up the win going 6 innings giving up the 1 earned run on 7 hits while striking out 6 and walking none… Three Brave relievers surprisingly did not give up a hit the rest of the game.
  • Sunday: Braves 6 – Phillies 0… Sunday the Braves closed out the series taking a 6-0 win over the Phillies… They broke the game open scoring 5 runs in the 2nd inning and then added an insurance run in the 6th inning while 4 Brave pitchers held the Phillies scoreless… The Braves used the long ball to score their runs… In the 5-run 2nd inning, Adam Duvall (7) had a solo homer, Jarred Kelenic (10) had a 3-run homer and Matt Olson (13) had a solo homer… In the 6th inning Eli White, a former star at Wren HS and Clemson hit his first homer of the season a solo shot… Reynaldo Lopez (7-2) picked up the win going 6 innings giving up just 2 hits while striking out 6 and walking 3.
