Poet, teacher, and imagination activist Glenis Redmond will be at the Laurens Library September 24th, 6 pm, for a special author event. The first Poet Laureate of Greenville County and a 2023 Poet Laureate Fellow selected by the American Academy of Poets, Ms. Redmond has authored numerous books including Praise Songs for Dave the Potter and The Listening Skin. Her latest title is
The Song of Everything: A Poet’s Exploration of South Carolina’s State Parks.
Glenis received the highest arts award in South Carolina, the Governor’s Award, and was inducted into the South Carolina Academy of Authors in 2022. She has performed nationally and internationally from Hawaii to Haiti, has toured England, and speaks for the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Glenis believes poetry is the mouth that speaks when all other mouths are silent.
The Laurens Public Library System is honored to be able to bring her to our community.
