Laurens HS
- Fernandez Names Laurens County TD Club Player of the Week… On Monday (9-16-24) the Laurens County Touchdown Club announced that Nehemias “Nemo” has been chosen as the Clubs Player of the Week for his performance in the Raiders hard fought 20-17 loss to AC Flora last Friday in Columbia…He carried the ball 26 times for 217 yards and scored 1 touchdown on a 49-yard run in the third quarter… He averaged 8.3 yards per carry in the game… Head Coach Greg Porter stated, “Nehemias has an incredible work ethic on and off the field… Nemo has always put the Team first and when needed to play quarterback, there was no hesitation… It’s about the Team from him.”.. He will be honored this Thursday at the Clubs 9-19-24 meeting at The Ridge on Exchange Drive which starts at noon… In addition to the local coaches, Furman Head Coach Clay Hendricks will be the featured speaker.

- Crusaders 3 – Panthers 0…Last week the Crusaders hosted the Panthers of Batesburg-Leesville and took a 3-0 win… The set scores were 25-14, 25-15 and 25-16… For some stats on this match click here.
- Crusaders 3 – Griffins 0… The Crusaders were back in action on Monday this week hosting the Griffins of Spartanburg Day… Again the Crusaders took a 3-0 win this time by set score off 25-9, 25-10 and 25-8.
- Up Next… The Crusaders are now 14-3 on the season and 2-0 in region play… They get back into region play tomorrow (9-19) at 5:00 pm when they host the Newberry Eagles.
Thornwell
- Saints 3 – Hornets 0… Last night the Saints hosted the Ware Shoals Hornets in region action… Good news for Saint fans as they took a 3-0 win… Set scores were 25-18 25-11 and 25-15.

- FBS AP Poll… The latest FBS AP Poll has a few changes in the top 5… Georgia has dropped from #1 to #2 and Texas has moved up a spot to #1… Ohio State is still #3, Alabama #4 and Ole Miss #5… Spots 6-10 also had changes and are now occupied by Tennessee, Missouri, Miami (FL), Oregon and Penn State… Clemson moved up a spot to #21… To see the entire top 25 AP Poll click here

- Red 6 – Braves 5 … The Braves started a 3-game series with the Reds last night in Cincinnati on a down note as they fell 6-5… The Braves actually led 5-1 early and outhit the Reds 12-10 but they could not hold the lead… The Braves also out-homered the Reds 3-1… Michael Harris II (12) had a solo homer in the 1st inning and Matt Olson 26) also had a 2-run homer in the 1st inning… The Braves other homer was by Jorge Soler (19) in the 4th inning a solo shot.

- Chris Buescher Wins at Watkins Glenn… Last Sunday over up at Watkins Glenn, Chris Buescher took an overtime win on the road course passing Shan van Gisbergen on the last lap to take the win of the second playoff rave in the Cup Series… For more information as to who was leading at the suspension of the race click here.
- Playoffs… Now that the regular season is finished, the 16 Cup Drivers have made the playoffs and are in the Chase for the Cup Championship are now locked in… Joey Logano still leads in the playoff standings. ..
