Main Street Laurens Board Announces New Dates for “Squealin’ on the Square”

A new date has been set for the 2024 Squealin’ on the Square Festival around the Laurens Square. The Board of Directors of Main Street Laurens met yesterday and set the dates for Friday and Saturday, November 8th and 9th.

This year’s festival would have started one week after Hurricane Helene struck our area. Main Street Laurens postponed the festival because City and County resources were being directed toward hurricane recovery during the original dates.

In making the decision for November 8 and 9 yesterday, the Main Street Board emphasized the importance of this event for the community, especially in light of the challenges faced following the storm.

The Squealin’ on the Square Committee, alongside downtown merchants, recommended the new dates. The Main Street Board was assured that both City and County representatives were consulted to confirm the availability of Emergency Services and Sanitation Services to be able to provide support for the festival on these dates.

Barbeque vendors, volunteers and musical artists were surveyed before yesterday’s decision, and the overwhelming majority indicated they would still be able to participate on the new dates.

So, the 24th Annual Squealin’ on the Square Barbeque Festival is now set for Friday and Saturday, November 8th and 9th.
