  • Red Devils at Home Tonight…  The Red Devils will be hosting the Blacksburg Wildcats at Wilder Stadium tonight at 7:30 pm… The Wildcats are only 3-4 overall and 0-1 in region play so that makes them more dangerous than usual as they have even more reason to pull the upset of eh Red Devils… For more information about the Wildcats, click here to see their schedule and results… Go Big Red

Laurens HS

  •  JV Football: Laurens 18 – Westside 14… The Raider JV football team traveled over to Anderson last night to take on the Westside Rams… They came home with an exciting 18-14 win scoring late in the game and then hanging on for the win.
    • The Raiders found themselves trailing 14-12 after the Rams scored with scored on a short run with 8:51 left in the game and they made the 2-point conversion to take a 14-12 lead over the Raiders.
    •  The Raiders drove down the field but had the drive to stall at the Westside 1 yard line… The defense then gave up a first down but forced the Rams to punt with 1:32 left in the game.
    • The Raiders got a great punt return by Kalen Gilchrist all the way to the Ram 4 yard line… After a couple of plays, Buddy Cheeks carried it in from the 3 yard line to make it 18-14 Raiders as the two-point conversion failed with 39 seconds left in the game.
    • The Rams then returned the kickoff to the Raider 46 yard line with 28 seconds left to play… They completed a pass on the first play from scrimmage to the Raider 40 but the Raiders defender punched the ball lose and recovered to give the Raiders the ball back with 13 seconds left in the game and all they had to do was take the “victory kneel” and take the win.
    • The TDs in the first half were scored on a hook & ladder play with Damajia Crooks carrying it across the goal line and JJ Bennett had a 3 yard run for the other score… Q. Watts had an interception in the first half and Coach Stevenson also pointed out that Carter Adair had a solid game on defense making several big plays.

Thornwell

  • MS Football: Dixie 14 – Thornwell 6… The Saints hosted the Dixie Green Hornets yesterday on the Saints football field and led 6-0 at the half… However, the Hornets scored 14 points in the third quarter while holding the Saints scoreless the rest of the way to take a 14-6 come-from-behind win over the Saints… The Saints score in the first half came on a pass from Jaden Wilson to Jaylen Washington

Middle School Football… To see the middle school master school football schedule click here… Please remember these schedules can change right up to game day without my knowing about it… Results from last night:

  • Ware Shoals 26 – Gray Court – Owings 0… The GCO Tigers traveled over to Ware Shoals yesterday and the information I have on that game is that the Hornets took a 26-0 win over the Tigers
  • Sanders 28 – Whitmire 14… Yesterday the sanders Yellow Jackets hosted the Whitmire Wolverines on the football field behind Laurens MS… The Yellow Jackets Trailed 14-6 at the half but came back in the second half and outscored the Wolverines 22-0 to take a 28-14 win over the Wolverines
    • Sanders scored first when Nasir Webb ran the games’ opening kickoff back about 60 yards for a TD but the 2-point conversion failed.
    • Whitmire got on the scoreboard with 5:37 left in the half on a 4 yard run by Damarcus Reed capping a 7 play 32 yard drive and added the 2-point conversion on a run .
    • Whitmire then recovered an onside kick at the Sanders 40 yard line and scored 5 plays later on a run by Joshia Hamilton but the 2-point conversion failed  making the score 14-6 Wolverines which was the score at the half.
    • The next score came with 3:32 left in the third quarter Travion Robinson broke loose for a 48 yard TD run with 3:49 in the third quarter… He also added the 2-point conversion to tie the score 14-14.
    • Sanders scored on their next possession when Deaunte Hill connected with Robinson on a 48 yard scoring strike… Hill also converted on the 2-point attempt to make it 20-14 Sanders.
    • Sanders last score came when the Wolverines were driving and on Sanders 22 yard line and fumbled and the ball was scooped up by Robinson who carried it home for a 79-yard TD… The 2-point conversion failed making the final score 28-14 Sanders… Congratulations to the Yellow Jackets!
  •  Laurens MS 52 – Hickory Tavern 8…We have one the middle school game to report on from Wednesday afternoon and that is the Hickory Tavern Panthers taking on the Laurens MS Tigers at Laurens MS… The tigers won the toss and elected to receive and Mason Young returned the opening kickoff 55 yds. for the score with Lagan Bragg adding the 2-point conversion to make it 8-0 with just seconds off the clock and the Tigers then rolled on to a 52-8 win over the Panthers… Two main things to know about the game… One is that the Tigers scored every time they had the ball and number 2 is that the Tiger offensive and defensive line were more than the Panthers could handle…The Tigers led 44-0 at the half and there was a running clock in the second half…
    • Young also scored on a pair of passes from Logan Bragg one a 10 yd. pass and the other a 15 yd. pass.
    • KB Bryson scored on a 41 yd. run and also on a 34 yd. pick six.
    • Mason Dial also caught a 35 yd. TD pass from Bragg.
    • Logan Bragg also had a 46 yd. TD run in addition to the TD passes he threw.
    • The Panthers only score came at the end of their last possession of the game 45 yd. run by #51 whose number and name were not on the Panther roster that I have.
