  • Boys Cross Country Captures 4th Region Championship…  For the 4th time in as many years the Red Devil boys cross country team captured the region title last Saturday…. Also William Reid was the Region Champion with a time of 17:02… Four other Red Devils made the All-Region Team in addition to William… For more information on this match, click here.
  • Girls Cross Country Finishes 2ndThe lady Red Devil cross country team finished second in the region met 1 point behind Mid-Carolina… Calvary Lyda finished second in the meet with a time of 24:02 (her personal best) to lead the Red Devils…  To see the other Red Devil runners results click here.
  • Up Next… The Red Devils will be back in action tomorrow (Wednesday) when they host the County Championship and they will also honor their seniors before the match.

  • Lawson Chosen as TD Club Player of the Week… Monday it was announced that Red Devil senior offensive and defensive lineman Clayton Lawson has been chosen as the Laurens County Touchdown Clubs Player of the week…  In last Fridays 61-14 win over Blacksburg, he graded out at 90% on offense and he had he had 3 pancake blocks as the Red Devil offense for 478 yards and had a total of 605 yards of offense… On defense, Lawson had 3 tackles and one for a loss… Head Coach Corey Fountain stated, “Clayton was a hard worker in the off-season strength and conditioning program and currently during practice.  His hard-nosed play on offense and defense set the tone in the trenches.  He has a ‘high motor’ and barely comes off the field during the game which is rare for a big man.  It is fun watching his 2-way throwback style of football on Friday nights.”… The Laurens County Touchdown Club will honor Lawson on October 31st at the bi-monthly Touchdown Club meeting…  The meeting will be at noon at The Ridge in Laurens…  Player of the Week awards is presented by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County in 2024… The October 31st meeting will feature Mr. Charlie Wentzky, Deputy Commissioner of the South Carolina High School League and staff member responsible for high school football operations within the state, as our featured speaker.

  • Girls Tennis: Mid-Carolina 4 – Clinton 2… Last Thursday the Red Devil girls’ tennis team traveled down to Prosperity to take on the Mid-Carolina Rebels… I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the Rebels took a 4-2 win over the Red Devils… Libby Dailey and Addy Derick were the only two players to take wins in singles action… For more information on this match click here… The Red Devils will finish the regular season as Region III Runner Up and I think the playoffs start Thursday and I will try to find  the playoff bracket as soon as possible because at this time the SCHSL does not have it available on their website.

  • Volleyball Host High Point… The Red Devil volleyball team will open up playoffs tomorrow at home taking on the Grizzlies of High Point Academy out of Spartanburg…  The match is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm… Go Big Red!

Thornwell

  • Volleyball: Green Upstate 3 – Saints 1… The Saints hosted the Green Upstate Owls last night in the gym at Thornwell…  This was a match to break a tie for fourth place in the region…. Bothe teams are headed to the playoffs and this was to determine where they finished in the region for the playoff bracket… I hate to have to report that the Owls took a 3-1 win over the Saints thus finishing 4th in the region while the Saints finish 5th…  The Owls won the first two sets 25-10 and 25-18… The Saints fought back and took the third set 25-22 but could not maintain that momentum in the fourth set as they fell 25-14… The SCHSL should post the seeding for the playoffs in the next 24 hours as the playoffs start Thursday…To see the bracket for the Class A Volleyball tournament click here… I’m hoping whoever they play they will get the treat and not the trick Thursday,
