Three Motions On Agenda At Laurens City Council Meeting

Three motions were on the agenda at last night’s Laurens City Council Meeting, that were submitted by Councilor Alicia Sullivan.

The first was a motion to consider the preparation of “Rules of Conduct to comply with boards and commissions appointments…as referenced by the

South Carolina Ethics Commission” for later consideration.

The second was motion to consider the preparation of a “Harassment Ordinance” for later consideration.

The third was a motion to consider the preparation of a proposed

Hate Crime Bill to the City of Laurens Ordinances, as referred to the South Carolina Clementa C. Pinckney Hate Crime Acts” for later consideration.

Before voting on these motions, Sullivan asked council to table all of the motions, but was informed by Mayor Senn that tabling these motions also had to be approved by a vote, which failed, so the motions needed to come to a vote, exactly as they were stated on the agenda, which resulted in all three failing.
