 Clinton HS

  • Up Next… The Red Devils will host the Columbia Capitals tonight stating with girls’ action at 6:15.

Laurens HS

  • Up Next… The Raider varsity teams are scheduled to host the Westside Rams tonight (1-14-25) starting with girls’ action at 6:00 pm… We do plan on brining you those games here on Real Radio WLBG and on the internet at www.wlbg.com

Laurens Academy

  • Up Next… The Crusaders are scheduled to travel to Greenwood Christian to take on the Hawks tonight.

Thornwell

  • Up Next… The Saints will be traveling to Whitmire tonight to take on the Wolverines in region action.

Middle School Basketball… All games start at 5:00 pm unless otherwise noted with girls’ game first followed by boys’ game… Note: coaches very often change schedule without telling me… To see the season master schedule click hereNOTE…Dixie and Thornwell do NOT have middle school girls teams this season so the 5:00 pm start will be for the boys’ game… Results from last night include:

Middle School Schedule for Today (1-13-25)

  • Laurens Middle at Dixie (boys only)… No score reported to me.
  • Sanders at Hickory Tavern… The Sanders Yellow Jackets were at Hickory Tavern last night taking on the Panthers.
    • Girls: Sanders 25 – Hickory Tavern 13… The Panthers only trailed the Yellow Jackets8-7 at the half as both teams were cold as the weather but the Yellow Jackets held the Panthers scoreless in the third quarter as they went on to take 25-13 win over the Panthers…. The Yellow Jackets were led in scoring by Nala’ya Grant who had a game-high 10 points while the Panthers were led in scoring by Mahaiven Cook who scored 6 points… Also scoring for the Panthers Ivy Brock finished with 3 points while both Brantley Brown and Kenzie Strickland finished with 1 point each… Other scoring for the Yellow Jackets included Kemariona Cullen who finished with 8 points and Rajennae Patterson who scored 4 points.
    • Boys: Sanders 52 – Hickory Tavern 17… The news is no better for Panther fans where the boys are concerned as the Yellow Jackets held them scoreless in the first quarter then went on to take a 52-17 win over the Panthers… The Panthers simply had about twice the number of turnovers as the Yellow Jackets as the Yellow Jackets press gave them trouble all night long… Travion Robinson had a game-high 15 points for Sanders and Zyekius Miller was also in double digit with 12 points… The Panthers were led in scoring by Bentley Jamieson who scored 7 points… Ayden Eaton scored 6 points for the Panthers and CJ Morton scored 2… a sanders player who will remain nameless got confused and made a bucket in the wrong goal to give the Panthers 2 more points…  For the Yellow Jackets Jary Harris scored 7 points, Marcus Miller 6, Deaunte Hill 5, Jaden Garrett 4 and both De’Vontay Mosley and Christopher Hester scored 2 points each.
  • Gray Court at Thornwell (boys only): GCO 47 – Thornwell 42… The GC) Tigers traveled to Thornwell yesterday to take on the Saints in boys’ action… The Tigers jumped out to a 14-3 lead after 6 minutes of play, but the Saints fought back and only trailed 20-17 at the half… The Tigers outscored the Saints 11-5 in the third quarter and then held on as the Saints tried to come back in the fourth quarter, but the Tigers held on to take a 47-42 win… Wesley Collins for the Tigers and Wyatt Lyman for the Saints both led their teams in scoring with 15 points each… Also scoring for the GCO Tigers, Dylan Abramowitz and Jaylin Anderson were both in double-digits with 10 points each, Kash Earle 6, Mason Lang 4 and Preston Owens 2… Also scoring for the Saints Jadon Wilson had 9 points, Keith Watts 9, Caleb Clink 7 and Tiran Grant 2.
  • Ware Shoals at Whitmire… No score reported to me.

 Playoff Results From This Weekend:

  • Thursday, Jan. 9: College Football Playoff Semifinal Game (Orange Bowl) No. 7 Notre Dame 27, No. 6 Penn State 24 (Orange Bowl)Penn State took an early lead in this game (10-7 at the half) but the fighting Irish came back to tie the game with 4:38 left in the game… Notre Dame then got the ball back with 29 seconds left when the intercepted a Penn State pass at the Penn State 42 then with 7 seconds left kicked a 41 yard field goal which would prove to be the winning points… Click on the score above for more details on the game. ,
  • Friday, Jan. 10: College Football Playoff Semifinal Game (Cotton Bowl), No. 8 Ohio State 28, No. 5 Texas 14 (Cotton Bowl)This game was tied 14-14 going into the fourth quarter of play where Ohio State scored 14 unanswered point to take the win… An 82 yard scoop and score sealed the win for the Buckeyes… For more information on this game, click on the score at the start of this posting or click here.
