Clinton HS

  • Up Next… The Red Devils are scheduled to travel to Mid-Carolina today

Laurens HS

  • Up Next… The Raiders are scheduled host the Fountain Inn Fury tonight (1-24-25)… We do plan on brining you those games here on Real Radio WLBG and on the internet at wlbg.com starting at 6:00 pm.

Laurens Academy

  • Crusader Vs. New Covenant… The Crusader varsity teams traveled to Anderson yesterday to take on the New Covenant School Cavaliers
    • Girls: Cavaliers 57 – Crusaders 45… The Lady Crusaders lost a tough one last night as they fell to the undefeated Cavaliers by a score of 57-45… The Lady Crusaders actually led 37-31 at the start of the fourth quarter only to go cold on offense as the Cavaliers outscored the, 26-8 down the stretch to take the come-from-behind win…  The Crusaders were led in scoring by Braylee Burke who scored 17 points… Mackenzie Runyans and Madisyn Graham both scored 6 points, Sadie Bruyere 5, Abby Howard 4, Taylor Cagle 2 and rounding out the Crusader scoring Brooklyn Senn and Braydyn Dorn both scored 2 points… The Crusaders are no 10-5 on the season and the Cavaliers are 13-0
    • Boys: Cavaliers 48 – Crusaders 36… The Crusader boys also lost as they fell by a score of 48-36… They only trailed 9-8 at the end of the first quarter but the Cavaliers outscored them 14-4 in the second quarter and went on the win… Braydon Burke was the only Crusader to score in double-digits as he scored 17 points… Garrison Vaughn finished with 7 points, Micah Strait 6, Jay Brown 3, Garrett Murphy 2 and Tristan Bates 2… The Crusader are now 6-10 on the season and the Cavaliers improve to 12-5
  • Up Next… A schedule note concerning the Crusaders, they were scheduled to host WW King this tonight (1-24-25) but those games have been cancelled and will not be made-up… King needed the date to makeup region games canceled last night due to the weather… They will return to action Tuesday, 1-28-25 when they host the Oakbrook Prep Knights.

 

Thornwell

  • Up Next…The Saints are scheduled to host the Owls of Green Upstate next Tuesday. 1-28-25

Middle School Basketball… All games start at 5:00 pm unless otherwise noted with girls’ game first followed by boys’ game… Note: coaches very often change schedule without telling me… To see the season master schedule click hereNOTE…Dixie and Thornwell do NOT have middle school girls teams this season so the 5:00 pm start will be for the boys’ game…. The middle school basketball results from yesterday are as follows:

  • Dixie 25 – Hickory Tavern 8… The Panthers traveled over to Dixie yesterday to take on the Green Hornets… I hate to have to report that the Green Hornets took a 25-8 win over the Panthers… Bentley Jamieson scored all 8 of the Panthers Points.
  • Sanders at Gray Court-Owings
    • Girls: Sanders 16 – GCO 12… Both teams had trouble scoring in this game as both suffered through a quarter where they did not score… For Sanders it was the first and fourth quarters and for GCO Tigers it was the second quarter… Despite that, the Yellow Jackets outscored the Tigers 16 to 12 in just 2 quarters… Scoring for the Yellow Jackets, Nala’ya Garrett led the way with 8 points, Za’Riya Boston scored 6 and Rajenna Patterson 2… For the GCO Tigers, Koziah Smith and Natalie Castro both scored 4 points while Addison Wilson and Jakira Elmore finished with 2 each.
    • Boys: Sanders 48 – GCO 38: The Sanders Yellow Jackets raced out to a 26-10 lead at the half and led 41-20 at the end of the third quarter but the GCO Tigers did not give up as they outscored the Yellow Jackets 17-7 down the stretch but it was too little too late… Sanders was led in scoring by Travion Robinson who scored 21 points and Zyekius Miller who scored 18… Also scoring for Sanders, Marcus Miller had 4 points, Deaunte Hill & Jaden Garrett both scored 2 points and Jay Harris 1… The Tigers’ Wesley Collins had a game-high 24 points for GCO while Dylan Abramowitz scored 6 points, Jaylin Anderson 4 and both Brayden Filbin and Edmond McDowell scored 2 each
  • Laurens Middle at Whitmire… Did Not Play
  • Ware Shoals at Thornwell… Score not reported to me

This & That:

  • Laurens Little League (L3)…Registration is now open for the upcoming season of Laurens Little League also known as L3… As usual, there will be a coach’s pitch age group along with Minors and Majors all three of which cover ages 7-12… The cost is $80 per player and you must register by Friday, 2-7-25… If you click here it will carry you to a posting where you can find out how to register online… If you still have questions, call the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation Headquarters at The Ridge at 86-681-7275… You can also register there in person and they are located at 301 Exchange drive in Laurens.
