- Basketball: Shamrocks 41 – Red Devils 30… The Lady Red Devils faced off against region foe the Eau Clair Shamrocks last night for the third time this season last night in the Upper State Championship in Florence… I have often heard coaches say it is tough to beat a team 3 times in one season and that proved to be the case last night as the Shamrocks took a 41-30 win over the Red Devils… The Shamrocks came out and took an 11-3 lead over the Red Devils after one quarter of play but the Red Devils fought back and cut that lead to 15-12 at the half… The Red Devils were not able to cut into that lead any more the rest of the game as the Shamrocks outscored them by at least 3 points in each of the remaining quarters going on to take the 41-30 win… Coach Gardner commented after the game that the Red Devils “We didn’t handle the moment well. Could never calm down and settle in”… He went on to say that “Fought hard but came up short. Proud of the team and the work they put in to get to this point. Excited about what’s coming back and the potential for next year.”… The Shamrocks had three players scoring in double-digits and were led by Destinee Tiller’s 14 points… McKenzie Clark was the leading scorer for the Red Devils as she finished with 7 points… Ry’Daijia Mars, Nah’shia Wright and Mylayja Thompson each scored 5 points while Kemaria Shelton and Bryanna Belton each finished with 4 points… The Red Devils finish the season with a 23-6 record and winning their region with a 10-0 record… Congratulations to the team and Coach Gardner for a great season! Go Big Red!
