- Tuesday, 3-11-25… Softball hosting Woodruff at 6:00 pm
- Thursday, 3-13-25… Baseball hosting Greenwood at 6:30 pm
- Friday, 3-14-25… Varsity softball Laurens at Clinton at 7:00 pm
Clinton HS
- Softball… The Red Devil softball team closed out its participation in is preseason tournament last Friday with two games… By the way, Whitmire went undefeated in the tournament defeating Blacksburg 4-1 on Saturday.
- Blacksburg 11 – Clinton 2… In their first game on Friday, the Red Devils fell for the first time this season as the Blacksburg Wildcats defeated them 11-2… The Wildcats outhit the Red Devils 10-6 but the Red Devils walked 8 Wildcats and had 4 errors that helped the Wildcats in some of their scoring… The Wildcats led 4-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning where Halleigh Luke doubled driving in the Red Devils only 2 runs of the game… No Red Devil had more than 1 hit and Luke and Cat Wilkie each had a double for the Red Devils… To see the box score of the game click here and to see the scorecard to see how the runs were scored click here.
- Greenwood 12 – Clinton 7… Later on Friday the Red Devils took on the Greenwood Eagles and the Red Devils jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one-half inning of play but after that runs became hard to come by as the Eagles came back to take a 12-7 win over Clinton… The Red Devils led 6-3 going into the bottom of the fourth inning where the Eagles put 5 runs on the scoreboard and added 4 more in the fifth while holding the Red Devils to a single run in the top of the seventh inning… Sierra Templeton had 2 of the Red Devils 8 hits … To see the box score of the game click here and to see the scorecard to see how the runs were scored click here.
- Up Next… The 1-2 Red Devils are scheduled to host River Bluff today starting at 5:30 and I do believe it will be a double-header.
- Baseball: Clinton 10 – South Aiken 6… The Red Devil baseball team finished its participation in the Emerald City Preseason Baseball Tournament Saturday taking on the South Aiken Thoroughbreds, a team that defeated them 5-2 earlier in the tournament… I’m pleased to report that the Red Devils got a measure of revenge for the earlier loss as they defeated the Thoroughbreds 10-6… The Red Devils scored 6 runs in the top of the first inning and made them standup the rest of the way though the Thoroughbreds did get to within 1 run as the score stood 6-5 Clinton after three innings… The Red Devils put the nails in the Thoroughbreds coffin putting 3 runs on the scoreboard in the sixth inning… The Red Devils outhit the Thoroughbreds 10-6 with all the Red Devil hits being singles and they took advantage of 8 walks issued by Thoroughbreds pitchers…. Jayden Glenn went 3 for 3 and scored 2 runs to lead the Red Devils at the plate and both Camden Finley and Rhett Gilliam each had 2 hits… Tanner Finley started the game and picked up the win with Isaac Cane pitching the last 2 innings… To see the box score of the game click here and to see the scorecard to see how the runs were scored click here.
- Up Next… The 2-2 Red Devils ae scheduled to host Union County tomorrow as part of a JV-Varsity doubleheader starting at 5:15 pm.
Laurens
- Baseball… The Raider baseball team finished its participation in The Classic down in Georgetown over the weekend and they did struggle a little… As you may recall they lost the first game on Thursday to the #1 ranked in Class 5A-D-2 TL Hanna Yellow Jackets.
- Chapin 10 – Laurens 0… Friday the Raiders took on the Chapin Eagles who are ranked #4 in Class 5A-D2 and the news is not good for Raider fans as the Eagles took a 10-0 win… They outhit the Raiders 10-2 and 3 of their hits were for extra-bases including one homer… The Raider hits were all singles one by Avery Madden and the other by Logan Martin… To see the box score of the game click here and to see the scorecard to see how the runs were scored click here.
- James Island 11 – Raiders 1… On Saturday the Raider took on the James Island Trojans who defeated them for the state championship last season… Once again the Trojans came out on top as they took an 11-1 win…They only outhit the Raiders 11-6 but their hits were timelier and 11 walks issued by four Raider pitchers helped their cause… Tristan Buzbee was the only Raider with more than 1 hit as he went 2 for 3 with a double but Bennett Edwards only hit was a solo homer… To see the box score of the game click here and to see the scorecard to see how the runs were scored click here.
- Laurens 11 – Georgetown 1 (3)… The Raiders finally got their bats going Sunday as they outhit the Georgetown Bulldogs 11-2 in route to an 11-1 win over the Bulldogs in 3 innings… The Raiders scored 5 runs in the first inning and were never really challenged after that as Ben Willis struck out 3 and walked just 1 picking up the win… Aver Madden led the Raiders on offense going 3 for 3 with a solo homer in the third inning and finished with 3 RBIs… To see the box score of the game click here and to see the scorecard to see how the runs were scored click here.

PC Notes
- Big South Basketball Tournament… The Big South Conference will start the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament on Wednesday, March 5th up in Johnson City, Tennessee… Both of the Blue Hose basketball teams will be participating with the Lady Blue Hose coming into their portion of the tournament as a #8 seed and taking on #9 seed UNC Ashville Wednesday, March 5th at 5:00 pm… They were eliminated by UNC Ashville…The men come into their portion of the tournament as#5 seed and will play #4 seed Radford at 2:30 pm on Friday… For complete information about this tournament click here to go to the Big South website where they have a posting dedicated to answering all your questions about it… If you have a question and you can’t find the answer to there, you probably don’t need to know it…. - Men: Radford 74 – PC 69 in OT… The Blue Hose men’s basketball team lost a heartbreaker in the first round of the Big South Tournament as they fell to the Radford highlanders 74-69 in overtime… Radford led 37-23 at the half but PC fought back to tie the game 65-65 and send it into overtime… For more details on this game, click on the score above… PC finishes the season 14-8 overall and 7-9 in Big South Play.

- Women: High Point 59 – Longwood 53… The High Point Panthers came back and outscored the Longwood Lancers 17-6 in the fourth quarter to take a come-from-behind win in the Big South Women’s Championship Game and punch their ticket to the Big Dance… Click on the score if you want more information on this game.
- Men: High Point 81 – Winthrop 69… High Point will have two teams headed to the Big Dance because in the Men’s Big South Championship they defeated Winthrop 81-69… They had to erase a 15 point deficit in the second half to get the win… Click on the score if you want more information about the game.

- DI AP Poll… The latest AP Top 25 Poll (3-2-25) some changes in the top 5 this week… Auburn is still #1 followed by Duke, Houston (4), Tennessee (5) and Florida (3)… There were also some changes in spots 6-10 as St John’s (7) checks in at #6 followed by Alabama (6), Michigan St., Texas Tech (10) and Iowa State (9)…Clemson moved up from #13 to #11 this week… To see the remainder of the top 25 click here.

- South Carolina 64 – Texas 45… Sunday the South Carolina Gamecocks defeated #1 nationally ranked at the time Teas 64-45 to win their third in as many years SEC Women’s Tournament Championship… Defense was the name of the game for the Gamecocks as they held the Longhorns to just 16 points in the first half… The two teams split the regular season series 1-1 so this was the “tie-breaker” … If you want more information about this game, click on the score at the start of this posting.

NASCAR
- Christopher Bell Wins for Third Time… In case you missed it Sunday; Christopher Bell is the hottest driver in the Cup series as he took yet another win (third in a row) at Phoenix… He battled his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin down the stretch in the last lap and just did beat him to the finish line for the second closest finish in the history of the track at Phoenix… For more on this race including the order of finish for the entire field, click here.
- Driver Standings… After this race, the top 5 drivers in the Cup Series Standings are now William Byron, Christopher Bell, Tyler Reddick, Ryan Blaney and Chase Elliott… If you click here you will go the NASCAR posting that has the Cups Series standings from top to bottom… Once you get there you can click on tabs at the top of the page to see the driver standings in the Xfinity and Craftsman Truck Series.
