On February 28th, the School Resource Officer at Laurens District 55 High School was made aware of allegations that an employee had been allowing students to use both nicotine and THC products in her classroom, in addition to allowing students to skip class and stay in her classroom.An investigation began and various interviews were conducted. The employee was relieved of her duties while the investigation was conducted and subsequently terminated on March 4, 2025.
Miranda Burton Stone of Laurens was arrested on today’s date and charged as follows:
– Unlawfully Placing a Child at Risk of or Cause Harm
-4 Counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor
-Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, Providing Tobacco to a Minor under 18
