- Wrestling at Home Tonight… The Red Devil wrestling team will be hosting High Points tonight starting at 6:30 pm.
- UP Next for Basketball… The Red Devils will be back in action Friday as the varsity teams travel to Woodruff to take on the Wolverines starting with the girls’ game at 6:00 pm…. The JV teams will host Woodruff Thursday starting at 6:00 pm
Laurens HS
- Raiders Postponed… The Laurens Raider varsity basketball teams were scheduled to travel to Riverside last night, but the threat of bad weather forced an E-learning day in District 55 and the postponement of those games… I’ll let you know when they will be made-up.
- UP Next in Basketball… The Raider varsity basketball teams will be hosting the Greenwood Eagles tonight at home with the girls’ game starting at 6:00 pm….The JV teams will be on the road the Greenwood to play the Eagles and I do believe that action will start at 6:00 pm also.
- Wrestling at Home Tonight… The Raider wrestling team will be hosting Eastside tonight in the min-gym starting at 7:00 pm.
Laurens Academy
- Crusaders Postponed … The Crusaders were supposed to host the Cambridge Academy Cougars starting 4:00 pm with middle school girls but the predicted bad weather caused those games to be postpone those games.
- Up Next… According to the schedule, the Crusaders will be hosting their arch rival Newberry Eagles tomorrow starting at 4:00 pm with middle school girls’ basketball action.
Thornwell … Back on Monday the Thornwell Saints hosted the Calhoun Falls Flashes in varsity basketball action.
- Girls: Calhoun Falls 40 – Saints 15… The Flashes jumped out to a 9-1 lead after 8 minutes of play and led 20-11 at the half as they went on to take a 40-15 win over the Saints… Jessi Pitts led the Saints in scoring with 6 points… MyKeiziyia Watts scored 5 points, Kelyn Spurgeon 2 and both Aly Jeter and Madi Landrith both scored 1 point each… The Saints fall to 0-3 on the season while the Flashes improve to 4-5,
- Boys: Calhoun Falls 89 – Thornwell 10… The news is no better where the boys are concerned as the Flashes rolled to an 89-10 win over the Saints… They led 49-7 at the half as they rolled on to the win… I don’t have any scoring details from Thornwell as Coach Blake did not send me those and he has not sent me ant for all the Saints games to date… I’m getting what information I share with you from MaxPreps… If you see Coach Blake ask him to send me the details…. According to MaxPreps the Saints are now 0-6 on the season while Calhoun Falls improves to 7-8.
Middle School Basketball from Monday… Hickory Tavern and Thornwell do NOT have a girls’ team this season.
- LMS at Dixie… No scores reported to me… If you see the coaches please ask them to report scores.
- GCO at Thornwell… All I have on this boy’s game is that the GCO Tigers defeated the Saint 25-20 and I don’t have any other details… Ask the coaches to send details if you see them.
- SMS at HT… The GCO Tigers took a 59-19 win over Hickory Tavern at Hickory Tavern… I do not have any scoring information from GCO (ask Coach Coleman to send it to me in the future)… Grayson Gansz led the Panthers in scoring with 10 points
- Ware Shoals at Whitmire… No scores reported to me… If you see the coaches please ask them to report scores.

- DI AP Rankings… The latest AP Rankings (1-7-24) for D-I college men’s basketball had some changes in the top 5 this week… From 1 to 5 they are Purdue, Houston (up 1 spot from last week), Kansas (last week #2), UConn and Tennessee… As of the poll date, Houston was the only undefeated team in the top 10…There was some changes in spots 6-10 and they are now Kentucky, North Carolina, Arizona, Oklahoma and Illinois…The Clemson Tigers dropped in this week’s poll from #16 to #21…If you would like to see the entire top 25 in the AP Poll click here.
